ORMOND BEACH – Family Practice physician Hugh A. Coleman DO, PA, has successfully completed and passed the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP) examination for certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Achieving this designation demonstrates excellence in the Hospice and Palliative Medicine field and a dedication to continued education.

The AOBFP was established in 1972 as the American Osteopathic Board of General Practitioners. The AOBFP is one of 18 certifying Boards of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and is regulated by its Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists to administer examinations resulting in certification awarded by the American Osteopathic Association. 

Dr. Coleman is Florida Hospital HospiceCare’s Associate Medical Director for Volusia County. In this role, he is responsible for assisting Florida Hospital HospiceCare Medical Director Dr. John Chewning in assessing medical eligibility for hospice services, developing patient care plans, and providing medical guidance for pain and symptom management.

Dr. Coleman is a board certified Family Practice physician with a practice in Ormond Beach. He completed his residency at Wellington Regional Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL and received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996 from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, California.
