A Message from Our Vice President

 JoAnne King, MBA, LCSW, CAHA

It may sound strange, but there is a growing body of evidence that hospice care may actually help patients with life-limiting illnesses to live longer.   In a new study, patients with lung cancer who received palliative care lived an average of two months longer than those who received standard care.  Other studies have found that patients with the most common end-of-life diagnoses who received hospice care lived anywhere between 20 days and 69 days longer than those who did not.

Some people believe that hospice care can only be used during the last few days of life. This is not the case!  Patients and families benefit the most when the hospice team is available for several months, rather than days.  If you or someone you love is facing a live-limiting illness, call us.  One of our team members will meet you for a free, confidential conversation to see how we can help.
